Promise Place was chartered in February 1978 by the Craven County Board of Commissioners as an advisory body on the status of women in our community. We were incorporated in 1981 as a 501(c)3, going on with several name changes: Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) and Community Coalition Against Family Violence (CCAFV). In 2008, we strengthened our resolve and service to the community by becoming Promise Place. We are affiliated with the North Carolina Council on Women/Domestic Violence Commission.
