SHERI RETTEW | executive director
Sheri, who originally started as a volunteer with the agency, has been with Promise Place since early 2003. Her undergraduate degree is in psychology, with specialization in sociology, criminal justice, and religious studies. She is currently enrolled in a graduate program in forensic psychology. Sheri has received numerous certifications and awards for specialized training and research in the fields of child abuse and sexual violence, crisis intervention, trauma counseling, grief counseling, suicide, critical incident stress debriefing, sexual assault response coordination, and crisis pregnancy services. Sheri currently serves on the board of the state chapter of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, and is a past board member of the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault. For her, this work is a way of life, not just a job. It's about accepting the reality that abuse and violence is happening, and working towards changing society's attitude and response towards it.

CAROLYN WYNNE | community outreach coordinator
Carolyn Wynne is a lifetime child advocate and has spent many years serving in programs that serve the best interest of children. She served as a substitute teacher at all grade levels for approximately 5 years. That experience led her to become involved with the Guardian Ad Litem program, where she helped give victimized children a voice. During that time, she also worked in committee with the County Extension Office, the Governor's office and other community volunteers to start the pilot program for the After School Enrichment Program in North Carolina schools. She served on the board of Promise Place for 2 years before leaving the board to join our staff.
