ANNUAL WINTER CLASSIC BASKETBALL TOURNEY (January)     Area teams compete in a double-elimination basketball tourney, to help raise funds for our organization. Past participants have included Craven County Bar Association, Craven Community College, Craven Regional Medical Center, MCAS and others. CHOCOLATE CELEBRATION (April)      We've discovered (after long, tedious years of research) that there's just nothing wrong with chocolate! Everyone loves some kind of chocolate in one shape or another. So, we hold our own Chocolate Celebration as part of our annual fundraising efforts. NEUSE RIVER BRIDGE RUN (October)     The 5K/10K Neuse River Bridge Run is held at Union Point Park located in beautiful New Bern, North Carolina. This event marks the first time local non-profits have joined forces to hold a community-wide fundraiser. The Neuse River Bridge Run, Coming together for the health of our community, will start runners and walkers at Blueberry Lane in Bridgeton and end at Union Point Park.

The 2005 Neuse River Bridge Run supports programs for the overall health of our community through the following charities: The Craven Regional Medical Center Foundation (Breast Cancer Funds), Community Coalition Against Family Violence, Craven Arts Council & Gallery, Inc., Habitat for Humanity of Greater New Bern, Inc., Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina, MERCI Clinic, Inc., Craven County Partners in Education, Inc., Religious Community Services of New Bern, Inc., Twin Rivers YMCA, Senior Pharmacy Program (Division of Catholic Social Ministries of the Diocese of Raleigh, Inc.), Craven Community College Foundation and Coastal Women’s Shelter, Inc.

ANNUAL PIG COOKIN' CONTEST (varies)     Area pig cookers compete for prizes, with grand prize of $1,000.00. Barbeque plates are available for $5.00 each. All proceeds go towards the programs of the Community Coalition Against Family Violence. Event is sponsored, in part, by Community Wellness Center.
